BRRRR It's cold up here!

Dear family things are going just ducky up here in the mountains. hahah definately a new set of challenges. in response to your questions mom....yes here they speak quiche. and thats actually also the name of the town. quiche is an indan dialect here that the natives speak. the natives here wear corte, reallly brightly colored tradicional clothing. The people with corte almost all speak quiche. at times we will say buenas dias to someoine in the street and they will respond in quiche. it sounds like german plus a dying walrus...and a little french. the town is remote in the sense that we are very far from the capital. the bus ride was 5 hours or so. the town is pretty big and is like almost any other in guatemala. we ahve 1 fast food restuarant and a small grocery store. a little smaller than palin and much colder. were you get really remote is the outlying villages, like the other 6 elders in my disctrict. no matter where we are we have water and electricity but they have no restaurants and have to take the bus 1 hour here to buy groceries and use internet. the further you get from my town the more quiche is spoken. i wont have to learn quiche be cause almost everyone speaks spanish. my comp is studing it right now but i wont. i have better uses for my time. but there are areas up here in the mountains where one MUST learn a dialect. maybe i ll go there who knows. my companion....it will be an interesing change. actually we will probbly be together for a long time up here. lets just say there are reasons that he hasnt gone up to senior companion after more than a year in the mission. but im not being negative i like him alright and at least he is serving a mission. well see how it goes. my house is sweet but it is colder than a (insert larry sherwood phrase here). Our water is hardly hot and so cold showers it is. the hot water heater thing is not owrking well and while you are showering you get electrecuted pretty regularly. good times. the place actually looks alot like eagar. white mountins to be more specific. imagine mcnary....but take away the trailers and add adobe houses. and add more stray dogs. it looks alot like that. ponderosa pines and cedar looking trees and stuff like that. i really does look like show low a bit. but not as green less trees and not nearly as pretty. but its high high up here. mom really make sure you call kevins mom and het his mission email address. also ask cammie or her mom if she has gotten a letter from me yet. or eric or the reeces. im worried they got lost in the mail. also the people up here have a different accent than palin which was different from the capital. so thats actrually a little hard. does anyone know where i was last new year? for my LIFE i cannot remeber where i was or what i did. Biscut? was i with you? wendy or wizard? anyone? where the heck was i? in eagar? in thatcher? or was i in flagstaff......quien sabe. well ill wrap this up. thanks for the prayers and the fasting and everything. paz afuera elder davis, quiche guatemala
